Aromatherapy
The power of fragrances
Herbal fragrances have been used for centuries to alleviate illnesses and increase well-being. Since 1928, with the introduction of the term aromatherapy by the French chemist René-Maurice Gattefossé, it has been an established branch of herbal medicine, also known as phytotherapy. The aim of aromatherapy is to use essential oils to have a lasting effect on mental and physical health - be it preventive or as a therapeutic measure. Thanks to its simple application, aromatherapy is not only used in a professional setting, but is also ideal for self-treatment.

What are terpenes?
The basis of the fragrance
So-called terpenes and terpenoids, the main component of the essential oils produced in plants, are primarily responsible for the scent of a plant. Almost all plants produce terpenes - some very little, others, for example citrus plants, conifers or cannabis, relatively much.
In the central nervous system
Since terpenes are nanoparticle tiny, aromatic molecules, they can cross the blood-brain barrier immediately and get into the central nervous system to act - in contrast to most molecules of regular pharmaceutical active ingredients, which are too large for that.
Soothing lavender pillows
The individual terpenes and terpenoids or their combination (so-called terpene profiles) ensure the individual scent of each plant. In the case of lavender, for example, it is the mono-terpene linalool that gives the plant its unmistakable, intense smell, the calming effect of which is popular. The terpene linalool is also said to have anti-inflammatory properties.
Cannabis terpene profiles
As from many other plants, terpenes can also be extracted from the leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant. The many different varieties of hemp plants each have their own terpene profiles.
Scientific research currently assumes that hemp terpenes have medicinal properties that, like cannabinoids, can act on the body's endocannabinoid system.
We have tried to 'capture' precisely these properties in our inhalers so that everyone can benefit from the advantages of the hemp plant, even without ingesting cannabinoids.
From this idea, the TerpPens PUR with terpene profiles made from 100% natural terpenes, extracted from terpene-rich plant material.
To round off the overall picture, we finally decided to offer our aromatherapy inhalers also with CBD & CBG - TerpPens CBDfilled with a full plant extract with> 50% CBD and ≈10% CBG at <0.1% THC.
